The Providence Players are looking for a young male actor in their late teens/early 20s to portray the role of the Centaur in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
This is a wonderful supporting role. The Centaur is the guardian of the forest with a number of good scenes throughout the show and will participate in the big fight scene. It is a speaking role and will be one of a number of actor generated animals/fantasy characters of Narnia that will be a highlight of the show. Rehearsals begin shortly with stage rehearsals beginning on November the 4th and continuing through the opening of the production.
For additional information on the role, the production, auditioning for this character and/or the rehearsal schedule, please EMAIL THE DIRECTOR: Brian O’Connor (speakeasyltd07@gmail.com)as soon as possible.
Please note that all other roles for this production have been cast. The Providence Players of Fairfax (PPF) is a non-profit community theater troupe. All participation is on a volunteer non-compensated basis.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
From the story by C. S. Lewis
Dramatized by Joseph Robinette Directed by Brian O’Connor
Produced by Prince McLaughlin and David Whitehead
Four children, evacuated from London during World War II, explore their new country home. Lucy, the youngest, stumbles upon a curious wardrobe, climbs in and discovers a magical forest in the land of Narnia. The land is under the power of a White Witch, and soon Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy must lead an entire kingdom in a fight for good. This popular and heart-warming tale is full of mystical creatures, talking animals and Aslan, the great lion and ruler of Narnia. A holiday treat that is good for the entire family.
Co-Produced by Providence Players and The Young Hearts
This special production of a holiday treat will benefit the work of The Young Hearts, a group of amazing teens who raise funds to battle blood cancers and other diseases. Half of all net proceeds from this production will be donated to Young Hearts Foundation in pursuit of their important mission. For the past two years, over $16,000 was generated to support this important cause, and PPF hopes to increase its support in 2014.

Audience reaction: “A classic done with class!” “We loved this brilliant production of a timeless play – its a don’t miss performance at Providence Players in Falls Church!” “…it was fabulous! Great casting, beautiful sets, and perfectly directed by John Coscia…” “It was amazing! Top notch acting presenting a difficult story… Kudos to everyone involved in this production!”
Five Star Review from DCMetrotheaterarts.com
DCMetrotheaterarts.com reviewer Anne Vandercook says: [Complete review and extensive performing arts coverage on DCMetrotheaterarts.com] “Providence Players of Fairfax’s Of Mice and Men is a superb production. I encourage anyone, especially if you have not had the chance to see the stage production of the show, to take a trip out to see it. The top-notch design and direction by John Coscia, his designers and team of actors, make this a ‘must-see’ impressive production.
Coscia… assembles an enviable cast to play out the timeless tale. Leading the cast are Mike Donahue as George Mitchell and Kyle Keene as Lennie Small. [Donahue] has moments of brilliance as he goes from brooding, cynical working man to fearless protector and compassionate care taker to his friend and companion, Lennie. I was particularly enthralled by his dream like storytelling to the childlike, Lennie. Keene is equally spell-bounding as the gentle giant, Lenny Small. Keene is perfectly cast as the caring yet clumsy mentally challenged man. His wide eyes stares as he dreams about his future and “living on the fat of the land” that he plans to purchase with George are very authentic and flawlessly constructed. The pair interact well, it was a pleasure to watch them throughout the show.
Joining the pair in their quest for a new life is the endearing one-handed Candy (David James). James delivers a powerful performance [and] takes us on a roller coaster ride of emotions, he evokes a raw sense of compassion and had me rooting for him as he had hopes of a new life in his grasp. Equally outstanding as the dignified and practical jerkline skinner is Ian Wade as Slim. The talented cast is rounded out by Mike Mattheisen as the stoic Boss, Mike Dempsey as the napoleon complex inflicted Curly, Julie Janson as the temptress Curly’s wife, Bobby Welsh and Craig Geoffrion as the farm workers, and Stephen Olbina as Crooks. All of the supporting cast members serve the play well.
Director John Coscia and the Providence Players shine in their current production of the melancholy story [Of Mice and Men].”

Director, Brian O’Connor, wishes to express his great appreciation for all the incredible actors and actresses that showed up to the auditions these past few days. We were all so pleased with the significant number of people who came to share their talents for this production.
Those asked to join us for callbacks are below. If you were not asked to return, please know that we appreciate you and hope that you will return for other auditions. We wish we could have cast everyone who participated, but the unfortunate part of this process is that we cannot.
For those of you who were not called, please let us know if you have interest in working in some other way on the production, as we need lots of help backstage, in production roles and in the booth during performances. We welcome your help and support. Thanks again.

AUDITION INFORMATION
Please plan on attending just one of the initial audition times but plan on staying for all or most of the audition period – we will likely have you up and down on stage more than once.
Please RSVP to providenceplayers@cox.net and let us know all of the initial audition dates you could attend and which, if any, you prefer. We appreciate flexibility!
AUDITION PROCESS: Auditions will consist of readings from the script – No monologue required. We recommend that auditioners have a familiarity with the story – the book is short and wonderful, so you may wish to read it before auditioning.
AUDITION SIDES: Sides for the audition process will be supplied each evening.
AUDITION FORM: Resumes and headshots will be accepted, but are not required. Each auditioner will be asked to fill out a form for consideration.
MEMBERSHIP: The Providence Players of Fairfax is a membership organization. Membership is not required to audition. If cast, actors in addition to production team members will be asked to become members of the Providence Players ($10) for the season (if they are not already).
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION: With the exception of the four children, the other characters can be played by men or women. The director has a strong preference for building a multicultural cast (African American, Asian American, Hispanic/Latino, Indian/Middle Eastern). We are looking for strong ensemble players, who can be creative and play characters that imply an animal or fantasy creature. Having a dancing background is a plus, as stylized movement will be required for all parts.
Character Information
Aslan, a great lion
White Witch, an evil queen
Four children:
Lucy (9-11), youngest sister
Edmund, (11-13) youngest (and precocious) brother
Susan (13-15), Lucy and Edmund’s older sister
Peter (15-17), the oldest brother
Mr. Beaver
